About

Once home to Johnson Brothers Radio Producers & Retailers and, for a time, an underwear manufacturing facility, this 5-story building is now home to Maryland Art Place Inc. (MAP). MAP purchased and renovated the building in 1991 with the goal of filling the contemporary art gallery niche in Baltimore. According to MAP legend, Laurenz C. Luthardt, a well-known 1890’s confectioner, died in the building. People say that sometimes the elevator takes them to the basement whether or not they want to go there! Learn for yourself if Mr. Luthardt haunts the building while enjoying contemporary art in the building-wide open house.
