About the Event

Join us for an 1.5 hour walking tour of the University of Maryland’s 2.1 million square foot academic medical center. Points of interest include: three beautiful atriums, the helipad, the pneumatic tube system, the air conditioning system, the power system, the steam system and the medical air system.

The original building was built in 1937 and has experienced six additions including the Shock Trauma Critical Care Tower. Completed in 2013, the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is a LEED Gold certified building.

About the Tour Guide
Richie Stever is the Director of Operations and Maintenance for the University of Maryland Medical Center. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore and is currently pursuing a Masters in Healthcare Administration at the University of Maryland University College. Mr. Stever is a LEED accredited professional, a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager and a Certified Life Safety Specialist for Healthcare.
