About the Event
The Baltimore Food Hub project is a $23.5 million historic renovation project situated on a 3.5-acre campus that was once the city’s Eastern Pumping Station. With design by Ziger/Snead Architects, the Food Hub will create dozens of jobs in Baltimore’s Broadway East community, bring new life to a brownfield site in a disinvested urban area, and provide opportunities for microenterprise, workforce development, education, and economic opportunity. The campus will include teaching and commercial production kitchens, space for food manufacturing, job training, an urban farming operation and an all-season market. By co-locating food businesses on a single campus, it plants a new economic engine in East Baltimore, providing jobs and healthy food access while restoring beautiful gateways into Baltimore City.

About the Tour Guide:
ACT CEO China Boak Terrell served as a corporate lawyer; business developer; liaison and advisor to agency heads, elected officials, and corporate leadership team members; and General Counsel for the District of Columbia’s legislative committee on human services.
Ms. Boak Terrell leads ACT’s national work to bring growth and prosperity to low- income residents through inclusive economic development projects. Since joining ACT as CEO, Ms. Boak Terrell raised nearly $4 million for the Baltimore Food Hub project and completed phase 1, which included extensive environmental remediation, site work, and the opening of the first campus building.
