About the Event

The St. John’s in the Village tour will begin with a welcome to the church discussing the history, interior, grounds and other points of interest, such as the historic Moeller 1947 pipe organ, 7 spectacular stained glass windows, restored Ladies Chapel, Italian ceramic tiles on altar, and our cemetery which dates back to pre-Civil War. Visitors will enjoy a short organ recital, Q&A with our music director, and stories from the artist who restored the church interior to its former glory. Come explore the church, grounds, cemetery, and other community activities scheduled on the grounds.

About the Tour Guide:
Bishops Ministry Team is responsible for conducting outreach and communication about St. John as a hidden asset in the community. The team is made up of members of the church and community and we are passionate about our campus as a piece of the wonderful world of Waverly. Our speakers for the tour will be Tom Hetrick, our music director discussing the place of sacred music and the pipe organ in art and Janet Pope, the decorative painter who transformed the interior of St. Johns from a cream colored canvas to the spectacular work of art you will see on the tour.
