About the Event

Doors Open Baltimore Inner Harbor tour as part of DOCOMOMO Tour Day 2021.

Suggested Donation: $10

Baltimore Architecture Foundation invites you to join us for a tour of the development of the Inner Harbor.

The 1970s was a period of great revitalization for the Inner Harbor. Following the success of the Charles Center revitalization, the city turned towards the Inner Harbor seeking a revival and a surge of tourism. The Inner Harbor and its signature Harborplace became a sensation, inspiring urban waterfronts around the world.

This tour will begin outside the Maryland Science Center (1975) designed by Edward Durrell Stone – architect of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). The tour will stop at landmarks around the Inner Harbor developed in the 1970s and 80s such as the World Trade Center and the National Aquarium.

This program is hosted as part of Doors Open Baltimore 2021, which includes free tours and programs throughout October. Visit the Doors Open Baltimore website for more information
