Information

Hampden United Methodist Church was founded in 1867 as Hampden Methodist Protestant Church. By 1917, the men’s Bible class alone boasted over 400 members—a testament to the church’s early vitality. In 1922, the original church building was razed to make way for the current structure, which was completed in September 1923. Built in the Classical Revival style, the new church features a wide temple-front porch supported by pairs of Doric columns.

Throughout its history, Hampden United Methodist Church has remained deeply rooted in the community, offering its space for a wide range of neighborhood activities. Today, the building is shared by two congregations and also hosts a Montessori school, art, music, and Spanish classes, line-dance classes and a quilting group for seniors, a food pantry, a Girl Scouts troop, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and more.

Special Activities:

From 1:30-2:30 p.m. Maria Scott will perform classical music on the baby grand piano in our sanctuary.
Light refreshments will be available.
There will be art activities for children available throughout the day.
