Information
AREA 405 is a beloved arts hub in the heart of Station North Arts District and Greenmount West. The 120-year-old, roughly 70,000-square-foot, four-story industrial building is one of Baltimore’s largest creative mixed-use commercial spaces. AREA 405 is the home to 32 artists and studios – some of Baltimore’s best-known, an event/gallery space, and the beloved Station North Tool Library, Plied Yarns, and Do Good Video.
Previously owned and operated by 3 Square Feet LLC, a former artist business entity, the building has presented numerous well-received art activities and exhibitions, making it one of the most recognizable names in the Baltimore art scene. AREA 405 was listed for sale in 2021, raising concerns across multiple communities about the loss of this beloved art space. In 2022, through robust capital fundraising and a unique public/private partnership, Central Baltimore Partnership (CBP) and Baltimore-based real estate developer Ernst Valery together purchased AREA 405, with the main purpose of preserving its affordability and vitality, as well as improving the functionality of the building.
