Information

Atrium Artspace is located on the first floor of an 1880s-construction brownstone at 2029 Maryland Avenue. The entire building was carefully restored and renovated in celebration of its history and architecture. A photograph of the building facade was included as part of a full-block image in the application for the expanded Old Goucher College National Historic District in 1994. The building now contains three apartments and the art gallery, which has exhibited numerous emerging Baltimore-based artists in its first year of operation.

Originally constructed as a single-family home in the late 19th century, 2029 Maryland Avenue was previously used as an art gallery called Maryland Galleries, which operated during the 1980s (according to a flyer uncovered during renovation). More recently, the building was used as the home, studio and office of photographer Lawrence Fitton.

Now entering its second year of operation, Atrium Artspace has grown into a vibrant artistic community that centers around artists living and working in Baltimore. The gallery team strives to support artists and present their artworks in a museum-quality setting with tons of original historical detail and charm.
