Dear Globe Coffee is a small-batch coffee roastery founded by artist and businesswoman LieAnne Navarro.
1008 Morton Street appeared in Baltimore Sun ads as early as 1908 as Michael Gannon’s Stable. Advertisements placed through the 1960s present a microhistory of Baltimore – the 1908 ad was for a bay horse, 16 hands high; a 1923 listing advertised positions available for a colored man to wash cars and a white chauffeur; later ads sold Packards and Pierce Arrow automobiles.
Housed in this renovated 19th-century carriage house loft, the roastery brings together Baltimore’s architectural history with the craft of coffee roasting. Dear Globe manufactures its coffee on Morton Street, adding another layer to the site’s story. Morton Street is named for C. Morton Stewart, a Baltimore merchant whose entrepreneurial career included importing and trading coffee. Today, Dear Globe carries that connection to Baltimore’s coffee history forward through its locally roasted coffees and creative approach to the craft.
