Information

Library Nineteen is a re-envisioning of the old Enoch Pratt No. 19 Library on Ann St. in the historic Fells Point neighborhood. It had functioned as a public library from its conception in 1922 until the early 2000’s where Baltimore City began to lease the property to a local non-profit. After many years of deferred maintenance it was deemed unsafe to occupy and subsequently offered to the public as a Request For Proposals from the City’s Department of Housing and Community Development for purchase and redevelopment.

The site was purchased by architects Pavlina Ilieva and Kuo Pao Lian in late 2023. In early 2025, the restoration of the building was completed. The next phase of the project will be development in the rear yard which will include new exterior courtyards and gardens. Library 19 will become a new cultural amenity for the district and the city as a whole combining design, goods, food and beverage, education, making, dialogue, exhibition, lab, guest house, and event spaces.
